On the last December we already talked about the habit of black snapper, this time we are going to focus on how to catch them, many people questioned if they really bite lure, we are going to answer it.

The Way Black Snapper Bite:
There are two purpose when they bite, one is for food, the other is to protect their territory, when water flows, black snapper would also flow from point to point, most of the time they bite at bottom water layer.

Fishing at Full Tide:
When it’s full tide black snapper would also be closer to the shore, because there are many food such as oysters or shellfish, making it a great fishing spot.

Fishing at Low Tide:
When it’s low tide black snapper has already leave away the shore and hide between rocks to await for small fish to pass by, so it’s better to use long casting range rod or lure for better chance to reach and catch them.

Gear Suggestion:
This time we use VALLEY HUNTER VHS-712ML rod, the rod has really sensitive tip and able to catch any information, also the belly is strong for fish fighting, the uneven two sections design making the connecting point between sections smooth like a one piece rod, it’s also versatile to use soft lure or hard lure, the long casting range making it easy to reach the target for bigger black snapper!

Lure Selection:

Hard lure we suggest the Heartyrise Wobbler 50SR, great for shallow water searching, weight transfer design with steel ball inside making the casting range longer, the noise that steel ball make could also attract fish attention, big swing swimming action could also make the fish want to attack, which is a must have weapon in your tackle box.

Soft lure we suggest the Heartyrise TT Shake soft worm (1.9 inch), which is one of the series designed for Rockfish, it’s made with high quality soft material, making the swimming action vivid, the spiral body design making the wave it make bigger, the glitter powder inside it making it sparkle that attract fish attention, it’s suggested to combine using Valley Hunter Jig Head + HR VH-10 crank hook, or Texas rig.
