In Taiwan the best season to catch squid and cuttlefish is from October to April, which is their breeding season, they would start to move to shallow waters to lay eggs, to catch them it’s suggested by boat, the target water depth is about 30 to 80 meters, the suggested gears are 6 to 7 feet boat rod with maximum lead loading size 60 (150 gram),PE line #1 to #2 longer than 150 meters, leader line could be 1 to 1.5 meters carbon line #4 to #6, shrimp lure between 3.5 to 4 inches, and lead between 4 to 8 hectograms. Depends on the water flow, usually the lure would sink to the bottom first, then jerk it to make jumping action, keep the lure near the bottom because squid and cuttlefish usually stay at the bottom.
PE Line we suggest VALLEY HUNTER X8 PE, which has extremely high dragging power, and the line is breaded tightly so it sink really fast, which can stable the rig and send the lure to the target even when the wave is big, the length of line is 150 meters, which is a great length for catching squid and cuttlefish, overall VALLEY HUNTER X8 PE is a very good choice for catching squid and cuttlefish.
