Summer is the peak season to catch fresh water snakehead fish, snakehead fish is omnivorous but mainly eat meat, this time we want to share the technique for catching fresh water snakehead fish. Rivers in Taiwan has variety of structures, the most common structure is huge rocks in the stream, usually there is no grass or branches for fish to hide, so we target the water flow intersection where they would await for food.
Summer is also the rainy season, stream is full of water which is fast and deep, the water surface lure has limited effect at this situation, because snakehead fish usually wait for food beneath fast water, therefore the fish shape minnow is suggested, especially the S Type has good weight that can maintain stable swimming action in fast water, since stable swimming water is the key to capture snakehead fish, when the water surface lure doesn’t work, give minnow a try.
Additionally, combine using VALLEY HUNTER X8 PE is suggested, because it has enough pulling strength to endure the weight of snakehead fish, also it has good wear resistance for rocks or other obstacles, moreover it’s good water resistance makes the lure control more natural, it is definitely your best choice for fresh water fishing.
On the other hand, snakehead fish has thick lips, and would not swallow lure, so it’s suggested to flatten the barb to minimize damage to the fish, also to protect ourselves.
