I used to participate in Taiwan's lure fishing competitions regularly. This time, I switched to a major lure fishing event called the "Guangdong Province Lure Open - DAIWA Cup" held in Guangdong, China. I hope to accumulate experience continuously and surpass my current abilities. I also enjoy the atmosphere during competitions where everyone is very focused, trying various techniques and tackle to catch fish, and persisting until the moment the whistle blows to signal the end.

Participating in different types of competitions is a rare opportunity for personal growth. In high-pressure competition situations, it becomes a challenge to catch fish in the fishing area. Initially, I chose a tackle setup consisting of a 2.5g lead jighead paired with a 2.2-inch T-tail. This setup was one that I often used and had good results with in the past at this competition venue. However, this time I couldn't catch any fish while my opponents around me were already landing fish. After 30 minutes, I began to contemplate and observe, realizing that the fish were not feeding near the bottom of the water column. I decided to switch to a weightless drop technique, but in a crowded competition area with 60 participants, the weightless approach wasn't prominent enough to attract the fish's attention. It was also affected by the wind, causing deviations in the landing spot.

With the pressure of falling behind and feeling mentally confused, I remembered that I had a bottle of Red Bull energy drink in my backpack given by the event organizers upon entry. After consuming it, I felt significantly more energized. Finally, I switched to a small Rubber Jig and used the hopping technique. Suddenly, it occurred to me that this setup combined sensitivity and slow sinking characteristics, while the soft plastic bait provided increased presence. The fish almost struck when the lure hopped and fell down, and the effect was evident.

For this competition, I used the Rock Master RMC-632UL rod, which has an F action. This tackle setup worked perfectly for me, with its strong sensitivity allowing me to detect even the slightest bites.

With three hours remaining, I focused solely on using this tackle setup until the end. When I heard the whistle blow, I snapped out of my concentration and realized it was over. Checking my score, I had caught 7 fish, while I heard the referee mention that someone had caught up to 10 fish. Now, all I could do was wait for the official results.

In the end, I secured the fifth position, earning direct points and advancing to the finals (in this format, you need to accumulate enough points to continue participating in subsequent rounds of the competition, and each person's points keep accumulating in different stages of the competition). I was happy to achieve a good ranking this time, but even if I didn't, it would still be a valuable experience. After all, experience is something that cannot be underestimated. Let's keep striving together!

The tackle setup I used for this competition: EVERGREEN C-4 JIG (RBJ) and O.S.P DOLIVE SS GILL 2.0.
