Fishing method from time to time

The method of using lure have been changing from time to time, at first people only use spoon to catch spinibarbus, after then soft lure and hard lure method have been developing, the pencil lure method is one of the most popular way to catch spinibarbus, with beautiful Z-pattern action and big splash from fish attack, it's really exciting, also it break stereotype that spinibarbus only attack shrimp or bug because of the mouth facing down.

To prove that pencil work when the water is cold, me and HEATTY RISE team went to the valley of Hualien, hoping that before spinibarbus breed we can catch some pictures of big spinibarbus, the temperature that morning was 12°C, water temperature was 15°C, to go to the ideal fishing spot we had to wade in the water, this is how fool and enthusiastic fishing lover is.

Rod and lure selection

There might be only one chance to catch spinibarbus when you find the spot, usually the water is low and slow, also the water is really clear, therefore spinibarbus would be more cautious, if the fish escape after one bite, all the fish in the water would be cautious, so it's important to have technique to grasp every chance, and be patience to battle the fish, and avoid it hide in structure and wear off the line.

Rod selection

VALLEY HUNTER VHS-684L has 4 PCs that is easy to carry with, the blank is elastic and easy to cast, the tip is sensitive so you can feel the movement of the fish, the strong and elastic blank make it easy to wear off the fish power.

Lure selection

VALLEY HUNTER PENCIL 65/85 is easy to cast far away, 6.5cm size is good to bite, if you want to cast farer you use 8.5cm model, the weight transfer has really good balance, with right technique, it can perform beautiful Z-pattern action, like small fish flee from threat, the spinibarbus would plash water and give it bite.

To shoot this 3 minutes video, we have walk 20km through rugged terrain, and finally find a ideal spot where they hide, luckily we caught a 50cm spinibarbus, the team got confidence, and went through deeper area and hope to catch a 60cm spinibarbus, after we caught several 50cm spinibarbus and it's almost time to head back, everyone sighed because we really wanted to catch a 60cm spinibarbus, than a member yelled with excitement and run toward us, there is a 60cm spinibarbus in his handnet, we all stunned by its enormous size and beauty, just like a good movie that you never know how it ends, this is our best end of the day.
