You can catch black sea bream all year round, depending on season there would be slight difference, when autumn is over, you can find them mainly around the shore or estuary, the size would be big, however the bite on lure would be light and hard to be noticed, I think it's why catching them is so fun.
I use HR tungsten lead(3.5g-5.3g) with 2~2.5 inch T-tail soft worm, and use #2~#4 offset hook, so this is California jig, which is tangle free and good for searching the area with structures.
For soft lure, you can use shrimp shape, fish shape or worm shape, depends on the area their main food would be different, choose the lure that is similar to what they eat. The terrain would mix with sand and rock, when water flows in and out, the ground would form into a hole, which the black sea bream like to stay, you need to know the flow of the water, when water flows, the black bream become active and attack little fish or shrimp that pass by, to catch them, keep the lure close to the ground, do some little jump, feel the structure, be aware of every signal.
When you feel the black bream bite, do not set hook too early, they would keep testing, maybe it's their habit because they eat shellfish, to crush the shell and then eat the meat, usually there would be two to three signals, I would set hook between the second and third to improve the chance to catch them.

The rod I use is ROCK MASTER RMC-632UL, 6 feet 3 length, has thin solid tip, which has nice feeling when using light jig, the orange spot on tip make it easy to see, the casting rod handle design make it easy to operate and improve the sensitivity, although the action is UL the belly is strong, so you can feel the signal and catch them up really fast.
