The introduction of Johnius distinctus:
The upper half of the body is black-brown, the bottom half is dark brown with light silver light. It has a small special feature on its chin. Its mouth has a pink color. The scientific name of the Johnius distinctus is Nibea albiflora and also known as spotted maigre.
Sand terrain and shallow sea areas are their main habitat. They mainly feast on small crustaceans and little fish.
They have a unique characteristic, is it's the sound-making ability through the bladder which can make a gogogo sound. During summertime, it's the breeding season. They will migrate back to the island, inner bays, or the shallow water area. During autumn and winter times, they will go deep in the waters or even south just to avoid the cold winter.

Their habitat is mostly sand-based sea bottom, so you can find this kind of fish in basically every sand-based sea bottom Throughout Taiwan.  Johnius distinctus is a nocturnal type of fish, which is the main target for night fishing. But you can still fish them during cloudy days or turbidity day times. May till November is the best period of time for fishing, and before 10 pm after sunset is the golden period of time.

The living habit of Johnius distinctus is that it prefers warm coastal waters at the middle and lower layers. It does it's migration with the climate and water temperature change of the season. When it comes to April to June every year, it swims to shallow water areas to lay eggs, and it is also the period of time when Johnius distinctus needs ingestions the most. They will travel as a group to find food at the shoreside. The frequency increases during night times.

Johnius distinctus likes it when there are changes with the tidewater. Shoresides are good places to fish in this case.

Johnius distinctus has a wide variety of eating patterns. It preys on marine borer, crustacea, demersal, like brown shrimps, mantis shrimps. And those shrimps mostly prey on little fish and crabs.

Early summer and early autumn is the best fishing period, especially the rainy season of early summer. It gets muddy at the estuary, even though during day times, Johnius distinctus will go after lures like crazy.
