The streams are getting active during summer times. The warm water temperature makes the fish more alive. Kuhlia rupestris is the dream species for lure fishing anglers due to its rarity. We can see them in the eastern streams, western streams, and Da Jia river. Being so rare makes it the dream fish for lure fishing in Taiwan. You can barely see the ones over 40cm. They like to hide in the structures, shades near the shore. And because of the mystery, it will be hard to target. The recommended baits are Pencil 65, VIB, Minnow 55S, and Minnow 60F.

As for the lure selection, we can use the Valley Hunter series, spinning, and casting version. The bait we use for Kuhlia rupestris fishing isn't big, so we recommend VHS-642UL, VHS-664UL, VHS-684L, VHC-664L. Valley Hunter has great sensitivity, tough and flexible blank.
